Inside The Mind of A Scammer
So why do people promote scams? That is an excellent question and I wish I had the answer. Although I don’t have the answer, I do have a theory. I’ve tried to empathize with scammers. When I put myself in their shoes, the only answer I can come up with is greed. I think they are greedy, but it that the only reason? Will they promoting anything just to make a buck? Hmmm, they probably will.
I wrote a post awhile back about the scams I continuously see being promoted on Facebook work at home and business opportunity groups. I belong to at least 100 of those groups and have not found anything legitimate to date.
I’m not saying all of the opportunities are scams, but I am confidently stating that at least 90% of them are scams. I’ve left some of the groups, but I really enjoy alerting people of scams so I have maintained my membership with the other groups.
Why Do People Promote Scams? Lack of Morals & Values?
I believe scammers lack morals and values. They don’t seem to care who they rip off or for how much. As long as a sale is made and they are paid, all is good to them. Some scammers even go as far as showing fake earnings reports which tends to impress the unsuspecting person looking for a legitimate business opportunity or a work at home position.
I could never knowingly promote a scam and I feel pretty damn good about that. When I first started my journey of making money online, I admit there were a few times when I didn’t perform thorough research on a business opportunity and later realized the opportunity or product was not on the up and up. Once I realized that, I immediately stopped promoting it. I learned to research and follow my gut feeling. If it doesn’t feel right or it feels shady, I stay away from it. My most recent bad experience was with GetPaid.social.
Now, after a few years of being around the block I challenge people when I see them promoting a scam. Their responses can be pretty nasty with a lot of bad language and sometimes a threat or two. I actually get a good laugh at times. Scammers get really pissed once busted. They get really upset when you tell them they lack morals and values. I have several videos posted on my YouTube channel called How To Make Money Online Ethically where I talk about scams and other topics related to making money online, ethically of course.
Scammers Are Clever
I have to admit scammers are clever creatures. One scam in particular that has ripped a lot of people off is one that involves getting paid to read news articles. I tried it out just to see what it was all about and quickly determined it was a scam. One of the dead giveaways was that they wanted my PayPal ID, not your email which is the normal payment method when using PayPal. Another red flag was the articles themselves. In reality, they weren’t articles at all. They consisted of only a few sentences.
Scammers will lie through their teeth to convince you that their opportunity is best one available. They typically use misleading marketing strategies.
Once you start asking questions that they can’t answer, they will become defensive and at times verbally abusive.
Scammers believe they smarter then everyone else. In some ways they are smarter if they can fool someone into buying into their scam. People can be very lazy and gullible. Scammers rely on that, so don’t be lazy or gullible. Don’t fall for the get rich over night claims.
Why do people promote scams? Greed, arrogance, narcissism, lack of morals and values. When trying to make money online, you have to make the choice; make money online ethically or be scammer. If you chose the latter, I’m sure at some point I will be either writing a post about you or making a video about your scam.
