Social media started out as a means to connect people with other people on a social level, but it is now recognized as a necessity for businesses. Thousands of businesses now utilize Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, YouTube, Pinterest, and Instagram to market and advertise their products and services. There are others, but these are the most popular. What makes these platforms so awesome is they are free!!
Social media platforms allow businesses to connect with potential customers who might not be searching for them or even be aware that their business exists or how their products and services can benefit them. If someone uses your products or services, they are likely to post their experience on one or many of their social media sites. What a fantastic way to get the word out about you and your business!
Challenges to Businesses
One of the challenges that businesses faces is the ability to maintain their social media sites so they remain current. A lot of businesses start out with the intention of utilizing the social media platforms, but become overwhelmed with the need to be consistent. Daily posts are imperative to keep people coming back and remain interested.
I utilize several social media platforms everyday and I love it! It’s fun! There are rules for every social media site and if those rules are broken, your account can be suspended temporarily and in some cases permanently. It’s crucial to understand the “do’s and don’ts” of the various social media sites you work with daily. Staying within the guidelines is pretty easy, but when someone doesn’t understand the rules, it can become a nightmare quickly. Don’t let that happen to you!
