Is GetPaid.social A Legitimate Way To Earn Money?

If you are looking for information about GetPaid.social and wanting to know; is GetPaid.social a legitimate way to earn money?  This post should answer your question.

I had posted an article a while back about why you should be weary of Facebook business opportunity groups. I wanted to confirm why I believe most members of many of those groups promote scams. The following is confirmation to me that Facebook opportunity business groups are a waste of time if you are truly looking for legitimate opportunities.

I saw an opportunity posted in one of the Facebook business opportunity groups that involved completing tasks on social media sites and getting paid for it. So, I thought okay what is this all about? The woman promoting GetPaid.social raved about it and provided me with her affiliate link. I joined on 01/19/16.

GetPaid.social In A Nutshell

GetPaid.social involves completing short tasks, such as ‘liking’ a Facebook page or visiting a website for about 30 seconds. People can join and setup tasks for other members to complete and/or get people to join through an affiliate link provided to each member. In reality, the tasks are not the appeal nor are they a reasonable means of earning an income. The idea or goal is to promote your affiliate link and get people to join. A basic pyramid scheme.

It was so new, I really had a hard time finding objective information about the opportunity. All I could find were articles promoting it as a great way to earn money online. I saw a few videos with comments about the site being slow and there were a few complaints, but there were many more positive comments. This is common with business opportunities so the red flags hadn’t started flying……yet.

Is GetPaid.social A Legitimate Way To Earn Money

So, since it was supposed to be a ‘no risk’ opportunity (they claimed they would issue a refund if you were not happy with it), I decided to give a it a chance and joined. The free membership was very limited in earning potential, so I upgraded to the annual membership of $97.00, expecting to see a huge increase in the number of tasks available as the promotional video touted. I was very disappointed to see no increase at all. Some of the tasks couldn’t even be completed due to errors or Facebook blocking the task.

After two days of no increase in the amount of tasks and trying to complete the few tasks that were blocked by Facebook, I decided to follow my gut feeling and requested my refund of $97.00 on 01/21/16. I’m glad I didn’t promote my affiliate link.

Not having the confidence that GetPaid.social would actually follow through with my refund, on 1/21/16, I contacted my banking institution and explained my situation. I described my association with the site and what was going on that made me think twice about the legitimacy of the opportunity. They felt the best action was to initiate an investigation and I would more than likely have the $97.00 credited back to my account.

After a few days, my bank did credit the $97.00 back to my account so I was relieved. If GetPaid.social did do the right thing and issue my refund, I would contact my bank and let them know so they could reverse the credit.

Three weeks later, I contacted the billing department for GetPaid.social and had a not so friendly email exchange. I was told that my refund request would be reviewed and they would get back to me. It is now March and I haven’t heard anything from Getpaid.social. It had been a while since I had visited the site, so I decided to see if they had issued the refund and returned my membership to the ‘free’ option.  They offer no option to close your account, which is what I wanted to do once I received my refund.

I clicked on the member login link and this is what I found:

My Conclusion About GetPaid.social

So, is GetPaid.social is a legitimate way to earn money? NO, it is a pyramid scheme. Once I started googling Jeff Long, who is the founder of GetPaid.social, I did not like what I read. He has been involved in previous scams. I wish I would of thought about googling Jeff Long before joining, but I didn’t. Another reason I become suspicious of GetPaid.social was because Jeff Long was pushing the lifetime membership way too much in later videos to the members. This led me to believe that he knew this was going to be another fly by night scam and he wanted to get as much money as he could before the shit hit the fan.

To alert people of this pyramid scheme, I posted a few videos about my experience with GetPaid.social and why I believe it is nothing more than a scam. Several people have left comments about their negative experiences, thus further confirming my suspicions to stay away from Jeff Long and anything he is involved with.

I also found some comments on the web where Facebook is suspending accounts that are using the Facebook app that GetPaid.social requires in order to complete the Facebook related tasks.

GetPaid.social is just another short term scam site that will not be around for very long, just like Jeff Long’s other scams. For those who paid for the annual or lifetime membership, kiss your money goodbye.

I just finished filing a complaint with the FTC and reported GetPaid.social as a scam, so hopefully action will be taken and enough the site will be shutdown.  If you have had a similar experiences and feel you have been taken, please file a complaint with the FTC.
